Stay At Our Place

Overnight Care in Our Home

Offered 7 days a week but subject to Availability  (We only take 1-2 dogs in at a time)

This service is very different from what any other boarding facility can offer. When staying in our home your dogs and birds are considered our "temporary residents" and get the royal treatment! They get one on one attention from us (Zoe & Scott) the owners of the company and get treated just like our own pets - with only the highest of standards, in the most intimate of settings.

DOGS:

We will only house up to two dogs at one time. So your dog will be all ours for your time away! We personally walk your dog at least twice a day, give them time to play in our big dog park of a yard with our puppy, Pippin and on occasion even take them all for hikes in the Wissahickon! Plenty of fresh water is available and we provide feedings twice a day (You supply food, treats and chewies.) Your dogs will never be in a pen or left alone for long periods of time or left alone overnight. We treat our boarders just like we treat our own dog and the dogs of our loved clients -- with great compassion, adequate exercise and adventure -- and a deep understanding of your dogs' needs.

There are guidelines that allow us to provide a balanced environment for your dog - and for us. After all, we are inviting your dog to share our home with us. We have done this for many years and in the past were able to care for a wide variety of dogs and temperaments. And then a few changes occurred, most notably the addition of our puppy Pippin into our family. She has changed the way we are able to house others' dogs since we are committed to providing her with a balanced and unstressful life. We are training her with a fabulous trainer (Marisa Scully, listed on this site under "Dog Trainers") and doing everything we can to support her in development in becoming the best behaved and happiest dog in the world. (Our efforts in creating a happy dog extends to yours too!)  Because of those efforts, we can only house dogs that fit these requirements.

  • Dog weighs under 75lbs
  • Recent Flea/Tick remedy applied a before arrival at the "P.S. Camp" (a minimum of 48 hours prior and no less than 3 weeks before arriving)
  • Recent Nail Trim and Bath (nail trim done within the last 7 days; bath given recently so they arent stinky ;-)
  • Up to date on needed vaccinations - including Bordatella (for Kennel Cough) and annual vet exams (will need proof sent to us)
  • Well Trained over all (no "barkers", no aggression issues, non-hyper, listens to commands, doesn't "counter surf" or jump, likes all dogs and people)
  • Crate Trained. We will need to use it for "time outs" when play becomes to revved up, for resting and at meal times. (If your dog is NOT crate trained but is able to be out of the crate and very calm in the home and is not food aggressive or hyper-focused, we are able to make an exception, )
  • Is able to sleep apart from his owners. We are able to allow a dog to sleep in our bed at night, but given that we may have two dogs here, it may end up to be too crowded for humans to sleep!  Uh oh.  So its best if your dog is flexible and can sleep in our living room on a doggie bed by our bed or in the next room, or in a crate if they are comfortable, as it allows for more flexibility in sleeping arrangements which is appreciated.
  • Likes puppies and young dogs (We have a female golden retriever that is an adolescent, born Oct 1, 2008)
  • Is good with cats, as one lives in our home.  His name is Chessie and he is very chill -- and loves dogs.  But if your dog wants to eat him, its probably not the best fit.
  • Is Spayed or Neutered, if over 1 year of age
  • Does not suffer from separation anxiety: In most cases, if your dog suffers from separation anxiety (even mild cases), we recommend keeping your dog in its familiar surroundings and scheduling Overnight Care in lieu of In Home Boarding. Our clients who have dogs that suffer from anxiety LOVE our Slumber Party service. They rave about how calm and relaxed their dogs are when they come home. Please call the office so we can discuss your pup's behaviors, coping methods and thresholds so that we can talk through your dog's needs and see what service would be beneficial for him/her.
  • ALL DOGS MUST STAY WITH US FOR 1-2 TRIAL NIGHTS BEFORE EXTENDED STAYS in order to see if your dog settles well, remains unstressed and enjoys himself at Camp.

Generally, dogs that do well at Camp have mid-low energy but yet love adventure. In other words, they are calm in the home and yet joyous and playful outside. They love other dogs, have a gentle play style and are not "escape artists." We have an enclosed fence all around our yards, but if you have an "escape artist," you know that sometimes fences dont make a difference! For all the Houdinis out there, we suggest scheduling Overnight Care in your home instead. ;-) If your dog passes all requirements, please request to schedule a Meet n Greet here at Camp! We would love to meet you.
